A performance speedboat requires a high performance propulsion system, and Carlson Boatworks has chosen to provide no other option, as the finest choice available in engine and drive configuration is specified for the CB 25.  The ultra reliable, high output fuel injected Crusader 425HP 8.1L engine’s power is efficiently and quietly delivered through a seamless ZF V-drive transmission to the CNC machined propeller located safely in the tunnel portion of the hull.  Independent levers allow for completely independent power and shifting control, simplifying maneuverability and safety of the CB 25.  Not willing to make compromises in its design criteria, Carlson Boatworks has incorporated a tunnel drive propulsion system as the perfect choice for the CB 25.  With a fixed propeller and inboard shaft arrangement, power is more efficiently used creating the maximum acceleration potential utilized by the ski boat industry for decades.  This design places the weight of the engine nearly three feet closer to the longitudinal center of gravity of the boat, eliminating the wallowing sensation created by a stern mounted engine.  This centralized weight benefit extends to the entire operating spectrum of the boat, increasing steering effectiveness and helps to reduce pitching motions in head wave conditions.  With the increasing popularity of towed water sports, the tunnel places the propeller safely forward of the transom instead of exposing it to swimmers in the water.  The benefits of the inboard motor arrangements have been utilized by the ski boat industry for decades for the same reasons.
