WHY NOW

A major drawback of the traditional wooden runabouts lies directly in the fact that they are extremely narrow in comparison to what is available to the purchaser of “white” boats.  The traditional barrel transom design typically lends itself to a very slender hull form.  By using modern hull dimensions, an almost 18 inch increase in width can be accomplished while maintaining the classic design cues.

Refurbishing an antique wooden boat has its own special place in the hearts of many and the idea of a boat requiring a minimum of maintenance may not elicit the satisfaction that some receive from spending an enormous amount of time varnishing and repairing their treasured toy.  We at Carlson Boatworks salute you for maintaining these classics from yesteryear, because we love them too!
